Name: 1787 Connecticut copper. M.33.28-Z.16. Rarity-5. DBL.
Description: 156.2 grains, 28.6 mm. A choice example of this naked-eye variety. Smooth medium brown
with some darker toning outlining devices. No notable obverse flaws, reverse shows some
trivial striations including a gap behind the seated figure's head. The centering is
typical, with the bottoms of the date numerals intersecting the edge. The namesake break
is heavy and bisects the obverse horizontally. Though quite elusive, this is the
"common" Snipe Nose. Its visual appeal makes it ideal for a well-selected
cabinet where major varieties are the dominant landscape. From the George Polis
Collection.
Price: $690.00 (2007-01-16)
