Name: 1787 Connecticut copper. M.16.2-NN.1. Rarity-5. DBL.
Description: 141.1 grains, 28.0 mm. A very sharp example, showing dark brown fields and tan devices. A
little rough in areas, a patch of verdigris has been scraped away at DE of INDE long ago
and left some scratches behind. Less visible pinscratches are hidden on the central
obverse device. More of the date shows than the Ford coin, which showed no where near as
much detail yet brought over $1,000. This piece is pleasing and much less worn, making it
deserving of a spot in an advanced cabinet. From the George Polis Collection; previously
from Bowers and Merena's sale of November 1995, Lot 3026.
Price: $322.00 (2007-01-16)
