CATALOGUE OF THE CALOUSTE GULBENKIAN COLLECTION OF GREEK COINS, PART 1. ITALY, SICILY AND CARTHAGE by Robinson, E. S. G. & M. C. Hipolito
London, 1971, text volume 138 pages, grey linen, 42 plates depicting 329 coins housed in a matching linen box. New. Perhaps the finest published work on Greek coins with superb plates of the finest mint state coins that could be purchased during the 1930s and 1940s. The majority of the coins purchased were on advice of great Stanley Robinson. This collection was put together by a collector of unlimited resources and illustrates many of the finest examples known at the time. Essential for the collector of exceptional artistic coins. This book is out of print. New copy in original publisher's wrap. Long out-of-print and very desirable reference.
The following comments are from Philip Kinn's book review printed in the Spink Numismatic Sept. 1990: "Part I of this catalogue, prepared by E.S.G. Robinson in collaboration with M.C. Hipolito and G.K. Jenkins, has been recognized as one of the finest numismatic books ever produced. In particular the quality of the plates, faithfully reflecting the perfection of the coins themselves, is superb." |
