Name: 1801 S$1
Description: An attractive silver gray specimen with generous amounts of mint lustre and a dash of
appealing golden toning. Probably as "original" as a Draped Bust dollar can be
found in today's numismatic circles, where virtually all have been cleaned in one way or
another over the years (it was totally acceptable to do such decades ago); if the present
coin was fussed with at all, it was well before the present writer was born (and he's been
around since Harry S Truman was president!). Devoid of serious marks and chock-full of eye
appeal, we expect this specimen will see a round of intense bidding, especially given the
ready acceptance of nice Bust dollars in today's coin market.
Price: $8,280 (2003-12-01)
