Name: 1860 pattern half dime. J-267, P-315. Rarity-4. Transitional.
Description: Silver. Reeded edge. Rich golden toning on satiny, frosty pale golden surfaces. The
protected areas of the design display deeper gold and rose. Some striking weakness present
on each side, not unusual for this variety. A popular variety, struck when the
denomination was changing obverse types. The generally issued 1860 half dimes have UINTED
STATE OF AMERICA on the obverse, while the present "transitional" specimen has
no country of origin listed on either side! Always popular, always desirable, and always
welcomed with a strong round of bidding activity.
Price: $3,680.00 (2005-09-18)
