| Description: |
England. Henry VI, AD 1422 to 1461.
Denomination : Silver half penny. Mint : London.
Date : Initial mark "plain cross", annulet issue of AD 1422 to 1427.
Reference : Spink-1848.
Size : 13.5 x 14.0 mm (a slightly small coin) Weight : 0.43 grams.
Grade : gVF
Obverse : Head of Henry VI forward, as is normal for these small half pennies, much of the inscription is off the flan. The inscription would be a very abbreviated, but all I can see on this specimen is the hEN at the beginning and traces of other letters around.
Reverse : Long cross with three pellets between each of the arms, with annulets in two of the pellet groups, with CIVIT LONDON around.
Inspite of the parts of the obverse inscription not on the flan, this is still a better than average example of this denomination. |
