Name: 1908 Canadian Specimen set.
Description: * Cent. SP-60, brushed * Five cents. SP-63. Deep golden gray and steel blue iridescent
surfaces * Ten cents. SP-63. A visual match to the silver five-cent piece * Twenty-five
cents. SP-63. Another visually matched beauty * Fifty cents. SP-63. The visual equal to
the other four silver coins, an exciting set altogether. Struck to commemorate the opening
of the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa in 1908. The Krause-Mishler world coin reference
gives the mintage figure for 1908 Specimen sets as 1,000. Housed in a red leatherette box
of issue, pressure clasp, purple satiny inner top, FIRST COINAGE OF CANADIAN MINT / OTTAWA
/ 1908 on three lines within, velvet tray for five coins in bottom. Box Charlton-6a. The
box has survived the years quite well, with very little exterior damage or coloration.
