Name: Great Britain. 1696 shilling. Extremely Fine.
Description: 5.74 grains. An unusual denomination from this famous wreck. Nice deep pewter gray with
silver gray highlights. Smooth and attractive, all but unaffected by seawater corrosion,
some very faint hairlines and a few tiny nicks, a lovely coin in all regards. Association
coins are rarely provenanced to the original 1974 W.H. Lane sale, and shillings from the
wreck are elusive. A prize for an advanced shipwreck collector. Offered with salvor's
certificate of authenticity. (Estimate: $200-300)From the W.H. Lane sale of September
