| Description: |
Here is an unusually high quality example of the famous ''Zerbe Proof'' of the final date of the Morgan series. Light golden-brown toning in the deep obverse mirror field calls attention to the smooth and lightly frosted head of Liberty. This reverse is largely silver with an arc of russet at the upper left rim. These highly distinctive Proofs have long been linked to American Numismatic Association spokesman Farran Zerbe, whose lobbying efforts led to the introduction of the Peace Dollar later in 1921. More recent study of the Norweb pieces suggests a role for U.S. Mint Engraver George T. Morgan in creating these storied Proofs. The number struck is unknown but the coins enjoy a long history in the numismatic community. This pleasing example is one of 20 assigned the grade PCGS Zerbe PR63.
