Name: 1881 50C
Description: A sharply struck example of this key Liberty Seated half dollar in an ultra-high certified
grade. Only 10,000 circulation strikes were minted. Although some were distributed through
coin dealers such as E.B. Mason, Jr., and J.W. Scott and Company, most were simply paid
out into circulation and irretrievably lost. Today the combination of low posted mintage
plus high certified grade plus the appearance of this coin yield a very special Liberty
Seated half dollar. Both obverse and reverse are basically silver overlaid with champagne
toning, with iridescent blue and magenta around the borders.NGC Census: 3; none finer
within any designation.
Price: $4,900.00 (2006-06-21)
