Name: 1881 G$20
Description: Deep honey gold with strong underlying lustre. Splashes of pale rose iridescence add to
the overall appeal. Typical surfaces for the grade, with scattered marks on both sides.
However, the lustre is unbroken on the highpoints, and the Mint State designation is
completely appropriate. From a small circulation strike mintage for the date of just 2,200
specimens, of which the present coin is the finest certified by PCGS. We suspect that most
interested double eagle specialists will be in active pursuit of this rarity when it
crosses the auction block, for where else are they apt to find an Uncirculated example of
the date? NGC has certified none higher than AU-58 and only this coin has been deemed Mint
State of the 19 examples PCGS has graded in the last 17 years. Please bid accordingly!PCGS
Population: 1; none finer.
Price: $39,100.00 (2004-03-09)
