Name: 1865 G$3
Description: If you thought the 1864 was rare, then consider this. The 1865, here offered, is another
entry in the rarest of the rare category, the era of $3 pieces in which mintages are low
and very few coins exist today. For the 1865, just 1,140 circulation strikes were minted,
from which fewer than 100 worn pieces are believed to exist today with only a dozen or so
in Mint State. From the standpoint of overall rarity in various grades, this is the most
elusive $3 from 1854 up to this point in time.
Price: $57,500.00 (2005-03-08)
