| Description: |
A charming and very pleasing specimen of the date or Liberty Cap type. Very nice medium brown with a faint golden hue. Extremely sharply struck, with each of Liberty's tresses neatly delineated and her profile standing out in nice detail. Her profile, in fact, is doubled, a phenomenon seen with some regularity on this die variety but normally associated more with cents of the 1830s, but there is distinct "strike doubling" from the tip of Liberty's nose to her chin. Nice eye appeal, some trifling granularity inherent in the planchet at peripheries is most notable behind Liberty's cap, minor dull nick on Liberty's cheekbone. An ideal type coin, as this die variety is one of the best laid out and most attractive of this date.
