Name: 1776 Machin's Mills (Atlee) Halfpenny. Vlack 6-76A (R-4). Large Date
Description: 102.3 gns. Choice Fine. Surfaces are a hard and glossy, mostly dark brown hue, while the
central devices are a notably lighter, olive drab hue. The strike is about average for the
variety, and the centering is near perfect. A glass reveals many ancient tics on George's
head, which may be inherent in the planchet or may be some marks garnered during active
circulation. Here is a very attractive specimen of a Colonial coin that is actively sought
as one of the few American made coins boasting the magical 1776 date.
Price: $800.00 (2006-09-19)
