| Description: |
Copper. Reeded edge. A very nice "go-with" for a Morgan Dollar set is this pattern 1879. The obverse is the regular die of the year, while the reverse is a pattern, depicting a different type of eagle from that used on circulated coinage, in the present instance appearing very bold, wings downward, and leaning slightly to the viewer's left. The overall impression is very powerful. The coin is toned a nice mixture of olive, gold, and iridescence. Rare and desirable.PCGS Population: 3; 4 finer within any designation (Proof-66 RD finest).
